Well, if Liz’s marriage broke up, I’d think that her bridesmaid might feel funny about continuing to display this object.
Or perhaps, almost 20 years later, she just didn’t WANT to display a relic of a friend’s wedding any longer.
Feeling like you have to keep, forever, any gift (personalized or not) is how some of us end up being hoarders. 🙂

Maybe Sally split up and Liz found out and hooked up with Sally’s hubby BEFORE the divorce was final and Liz used this for a jiz rag until it started smelling, so she donated it.

Maybe the bridesmaid died in a horrible car accident, after the wedding, on the way to the reception, in a car driven by Liz; and the family didn’t want to keep it any longer…

Or, maybe they just aren’t good friends anymore.

I once found an exquisitely smocked Christening dress (I do smocking and know what this dress entailed) with a tag “Hand Made by Nana” at a thrift shop – for $5. I had no use for it, but bought it anyway. It – and Nana – deserved a better fate.
